Watch Ziggy Ramo’s Vital And Powerful Cover Of Paul Kelly’s ‘Little Things’

Ziggy Ramo has shared a powerful and poignant cover of Paul Kelly’s ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’ today. It’s his own take on the song and it contains a powerful message around our country’s stolen land and invasion.

“Gather ’round people and I’ll tell you a story,” says Ramo, opening the song. “200 years of history that’s falsified.”

Ziggy Ramo and Paul Kelly formed a friendship last year after the release of Ramo’s Black Thoughts. The friendship led to this collaboration, where Kelly handed over the original master of the song to Ramo.

On the song, Ziggy says, “‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’ has always been such an important song to not only me, but Australia.”

“It was released in 1991, the same year as the Royal Commission into Indigenous deaths in custody. 30 years on I feel honoured to be given permission by Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody to revisit the story from another perspective.

“‘Little Things’ doesn’t fit into a genre, it doesn’t really fit into today’s musical landscape but this art felt urgent and I wanted to share it with the world.”

The accompanying video, directed by Ramo, is so powerful in conjunction with the song. The Sydney Opera House gave Ziggy Ramo special permission to film on top of the structure for the video.

On the project, Sydney Opera House Head of Digital Programming, Stuart Buchanan said, “The Sydney Opera House is extremely proud to have continued our ongoing relationship with Ziggy Ramo to produce this important and historic music video and documentary.”
