Tropical Fuck Storm have announced Cellophane Honeymoon, a touring mini-festival that’s heading to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in autumn 2024. Tropical Fuck Storm are on headline duties, with ample support from C.O.F.F.I.N, Cool Sounds and Mod Con. These will be TFS’ first shows since they took part in the Daydream festival in April 2023.
Cellophane Honeymoon kicks off at The Triffid in Brisbane/Meanjin on Friday, 22nd March. Next stop is Sydney/Gadigal’s Metro Theatre on Saturday, 23rd March, and the four bands will bring the tour to a close at Northcote Theatre in Melbourne/Naarm on Friday, 12th April. Details below.
Tropical Fuck Storm – ‘The Future of History’
Tropical Fuck Storm comprises former members of The Drones, frontperson Gareth Liddiard and bass player Fiona Kitschin, along with guitarist Erica Dunn (Mod Con) and drummer Lauren Hammel (High Tension). The band was forced to put all of its touring plans on hold in January 2023 when Kitschin was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.
Kitschin was well enough to play the Daydream shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and Liddiard is currently on a solo tour, the announcement of which coincided with the launch of a GoFundMe to assist with Kitschin medical bills. The GoFundMe has well exceeded its $80k target – it currently sits at over $130k.
The band recently signalled their plans to resume touring, sharing the news that they’d been included on the lineup for Barcelona’s Primavera Sound in late May/early June 2024. They’re also playing Primavera’s sibling event in Porto, Portugal, in early June. The band’s latest album, Deep States, came out in 2021. They’ve since released the EP, Submersive Behaviour, and the concert film Goody Goody Gumdrops.
