The Rions Announce EP Tour, Share ‘Time Will Try’

The Rions have announced an extensive national tour in support of their upcoming second EP, Happiness In A Place It Shouldn’t Be. The tour will be the Sydney band’s biggest to date, taking in a whopping 21 dates across the course of four months. The full tour itinerary, as well as pre-sale and ticketing information, can be accessed below.

The follow-up to the band’s debut EP, 2023’s Minivan, will feature previously-released singles ‘Sweet Cocoon’ and ‘Physical Medicine’. To coincide with their tour announcement, the band have shared a third single from the EP entitled ‘Time Will Try’. In a joint press statement, the band explained that their latest single stemmed from “reminiscing about the times the four of us spent together as 12-year-olds”, which lead to “supposing a world in which we weren’t still friends”.

“We channeled the feeling of losing the history we have in this hypothetical world into the sorrow that bleeds into the lyrics of this song,” they said. “It’s about the persistence of love that best friends, brothers and sisters share – and that, through all the highs and the lows, time spent apart would have ultimately been a waste. Through all the hypothetical miscommunications and stubborn bitterness, the love that we miss sharing with each other would have been within reach all along.”

The Rions had previously undertaken a national tour in May and June of this year, supporting the release of ‘Sweet Cocoon’ with a run of shows supported by Sydney pop trio Blusher and Auckland band Park Rd. The band will also incorporate festival slots into their upcoming tour – including Darwin’s Rock The Bay festival next month and both Beyond The Valley and Lost Paradise over the new-year period in late December.
