The National’s Matt Berninger & Phoebe Bridgers Collaborate For Track In ‘Between Two Ferns: The Movie’

A few days back, Zach Galifianakis‘ Between Two Ferns: The Movie hit Netflix, appearing on screens all around the world. The Scott Aukerman-directed film follows Galifianakis and his crew as they embark on a road trip to film interviews for the show.

The National’s Matt Berninger and Phoebe Bridgers contributed a new collaborative track to the movie, titled ‘Walking On A String’. In the film, the track is performed by Berninger and Bridgers live in a bar. You can watch them perform the track around the 42:30 mark.

‘Walking On A String’ was written for the film by Berninger with his wife, frequent collaborator, Carin Besser and musician Mike Brewer. It was recorded by Walter Martin and Matt Barrick of the Walkmen and Bridgers, Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska produced the track. It’s the first collaboration ever from the pair, and hopefully not the last.

The series kicked off in 2008, with Funny Or Die taking on the series for a memorable 21 episodes. The satirical take on the traditional talk show format saw interviews with notable guests like Barack Obama, Justin Bieber and Ben Stiller.

The studio version will be coming to us on October 17 via Dead Oceans.
