If the demolition of Frankie’s Pizza has — in the immortal words of 80’s hair metal icons Extreme — left a hole in your heart… then we might have just found something to fill it.
The maniac brains behind the late great Hunter St rock n’ roll dive bar have just launched a brand new venture dubbed ‘Dingbats Party Pit‘, a monthly underground hard rock club buried beneath in the bowels of the CBD’s Arcade Bar at 16 O’Connell St.

“Here to answer the cries of the Hard Rock community, Dingbats is bringing back the kind of fist pumping, fire breathing, full-tilt fun that this town deserves,” event presenter NITE-RITE Entertainment says in press statement. “A monthly explosion of live bands, DJs and Hard Rock revelry set deep beneath the city streets.”
Unashamedly drawing heavy inspo from the Rock Clubs of Hollywood’s Hair Metal heyday like Viper Room and The Whiskey, Dingbats will cop its official launch party on Friday, 7th March with a five-band bill, headlined by Melbourne DIY punk tour de force Mannequin Death Squad and featuring the world’s top Poison tribute act, Poizon’Us.
And that’s not all, the night will be rounded out by metal DJ’s NITECALL, AXL BROS & JORDAN ADAM spinning classic bangers on the decks, as well as a ‘Horrendously Bad tattoo competition ‘, which “calls upon all cretins present to bare their most regrettable ink for a chance at mega merch packs, tattoo credit and a generous portion of champion’s glory”.
