Paul Kelly, Courtney Barnett And Baker Boy Lead WOMADelaide 2022 Lineup

WOMADelaide has made its first announcement of artists for its 30th anniversary next year, with a truly impressive bill for the festival’s 2022 edition. Next year’s festival is set to return to Adelaide’s Botanic Park between Friday, 11th and Monday, 14th March.

The Adelaide-born Paul Kelly will return after performing at the inaugural WOMADelaide back in 1992 (and again in 1997 and 2006), while Courtney Barnett will make her debut at the festival in support of new album Things Take Time, Take Time. Baker Boy, meanwhile, fresh from releasing debut album Gela, heads up a lineup of First Nations talent that will also include King Stingray and Emma Donovan & the Putbacks.

Elsewhere on the lineup is rising star Barkaa and electronic duo Electric Fields, who’ll perform with Antara singers and the Tjarutja First Nations Dance Collective. Goanna, Motez, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, L-FRESH the Lion, Haiku Hands, The Crooked Fiddle Band and more fill out the lineup.

“Since 1992 WOMADelaide has taken audiences on a journey of discovery, celebrating music, arts and dance from around the world,” commented WOMDelaide director Ian Scobie.

“The Australian artists performing with us next year continue this tradition, demonstrating the extraordinary creative and cultural diversity that lies within our own borders. Botanic Park will be filled with the sounds of South America, the Seychelles, Iran, PNG, West Papua and Africa; folk, blues, Klezmer, DJs and so much more.”
