Brisbane venues The Tivoli and the Princess Theatre have announced their full winter program, entitled Open Season, which is set to commence in May 2024 and will run through until July. It is the third consecutive Open Season program, having been originally launched in 2022. A full breakdown of the lineup across both venues can be found below.
Heading up the announcement are Texan post-rock band Explosions In The Sky, who were recently announced as part of this year’s Vivid LIVE program. They will be playing in Brisbane for the first time in over seven years, having last performed in the city circa 2017 at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Concert Hall. Other international artists making an appearance in Brisbane for Open Season include Sky Ferreira, Yves Tumor and INIKO – all of whom will be playing in the city for the very first time as part of the program.

In a press statement, Dave Sleswick – the creative director of both Brisbane venues – described Open Season as “bringing Brisbane to life over the typically quieter winter months, promoting togetherness and celebrating artistic adventure”.
“This year’s Open Season program has something for everyone, from iconic heritage acts to sets from some of Australia’s most exciting up-and-coming artists,” he said. “We are stoked with this year’s lineup and proud that Open Season has become such a huge highlight in the city’s cultural calendar.”
Outside of The Tivoli and the Princess Theatre, Open Season 2024 will also feature a free, all-ages block party that will take over King Street in Bowen Hills on Saturday June 1st. Dubbed Blak Day Out, the party will feature performances from Indigenous artists Emma Donovan, 3%, Badassmutha and The Ancient Bloods. Two free dance parties will also be hosted by Fortitude Valley bar QUIVR in its Winn Lane locale on Saturday June 22th and Saturday July 20th.
