New Initiative Set to Revitalise Touring in Victoria’s Regional Areas

The Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO) has launched its latest initiative to revitalise live music in regional areas and outer suburban Melbourne  – ‘On The Road Again’.

The music series is funded by the Victorian Government, with $5 million set to be injected into the sector across a variety of grants approved for artists, promoters and venues. The On The Road Again series will be seeing artist including Baker Boy, Kaiit, as well as Emma Donovan and The Putbacks tour.

It will also see festivals like Loch Hart on the Great Ocean Road and Churchill Island’s Ocean Sounds Festival also kick off; artists including Boy & Bear, Bad//Dreems, Gretta Ray and more locked in to perform.

“With more than 300 incredible events and an awesome line-up of local artists, this summer offers plenty of reasons to take a music-fuelled road trip across Victoria,” Minister for Creative Industries Danny Pearson has said.

“On The Road Again is bringing performers back to local stages, supporting the live music industry, generating tourism and delivering economic benefits in towns and suburbs across the state.”

It is hoped that the On The Road Again initiative will help launch over 300 events throughout next year, encouraging Victorians to get out, visit the regions and get back to enjoying live music in some excellent non-metro settings.

More events are still to be announced but to keep up to date, visit the official website!
