The family of John Farnham have shared an update to reveal that the ARIA Hall-Of-Famer has become a grandfather for the first time. Jett Farnham was born two weeks ago on Wednesday, June 18th to Farnham’s son James and his partner Tessa Effendi. A statement from the Farnham family have also noted that Jett’s middle name is John, in tribute to his platinum-selling grandfather.
“We thought we were excited to meet him, but [it] turns out he was even more excited to meet us, arriving a little ahead of schedule,” said James and Effendi in a joint statement – noting that he was born before his due date. “Jett is our whole world in one tiny, noisy, perfect package. We’re smitten, we’re sleep-deprived, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Farnham and his wife Jill, for their part, also shared a statement expressing their excitement at becoming grandparents. “We are over the moon about the arrival of this perfectly beautiful little boy,” they wrote. “He’s already filled our hearts with so much love, and we’re so proud and happy for James and Tessa. Welcome to the world, Jett.”
John Farnham – ‘Age Of Reason’
The statement from Farnham and his family marks the first time he has issued a public statement in nearly a year, following the release of his memoir The Voice Inside last October. Written in collaboration with Poppy Stockell – who directed Farnham’s 2023 documentary, Finding The Voice – the book covered his entire career, from emerging as Johnny Farnham in the 60s to finding multi-platinum success in the 80s, through to his shock mouth cancer diagnosis in 2022. A new illustrated edition of the book is set for release in October 2025 via Hatchette Australia Books.
Yesterday (July 1st) also saw the singer celebrate his 76th birthday.
