ixaras has shared a new single, entitled ‘Do You Like Girls?’, which marks her second single of 2025 thus far. The follow-up to last month’s ‘This City’ was produced by Thomas Porter, who works under the moniker Charlie Hole, with singer-songwriter Hannah Brewer also credited by the artist as assisting in the song’s creation. In a press statement, the teenage Brisbane singer-songwriter described the new song as a “journey of self-discovery in sexuality”.
“[The song is] challenging societal binaries and expectations, while also questioning how we perceive and assume the sexuality of others,” she wrote. “This song was written about when I was unsure and ashamed of myself, because of my sexuality. Looking back now, I’m so happy to say how proud I [am for how far I] have come, and how much love I have yet to share with the world. I hope this song brings comfort to anyone going through a similar time, and just know you’re allowed to love whoever you want.” The new single can be streamed below.
ixaras – ‘Do You Like Girls?’
The release of ‘Do You Like Girls?’ continues a busy week for ixaras, who recently launched a new show on triple j‘s Unearthed digital radio station that she will program and host. Unearthed High Frequency will air at 3pm local time on Thursdays via the triple j website for the next six weeks, and will see her going through submissions for this year’s Unearthed High competition – of which she was a finalist back in 2023. To celebrate the release of the single, ixaras and her band will play a run of intimate east-coast shows throughout July.
