Icehouse Announce 40th Anniversary ‘Great Southern Land’ Tour

Icehouse have announced their return to live touring for 2022, celebrating their iconic track, ‘Great Southern Land’.

The single turns 40 next year and to mark the milestone, the Sydney legends are staging a concert series that will have them touring nationwide. The first of the tour dates have been announced today; shows locked in for Sydney, Perth, Queensland and Darwin to start.

‘Great Southern Land’ is one of those classic Australian songs that feels as intrinsically tied to the national music identity as ‘Beds Are Burning’ or ‘To Her Door’. Released back in 1982 as the lead single from Icehouse’s sophomore album Primitive Man, ‘Great Southern Land’ and has since gone on to have its importance solidified over the years.

Countless remixes, as well as being inducted into the National Film and Sound Archive’s Sounds Of Australia registry – ‘Great Southern Land’ hasn’t lost its impact.

Watch Icehouse discuss the track, accompanied by a live video of the band performing it live from the Roche Estate, below.
