Dua Lipa on Kevin Parker “He’s Always Been on My Dream Board of People to Work With”

British pop star Dua Lipa worked with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker on her latest single, ‘Houdini.’ In an interview with triple j, Lipa discussed her collaboration with Parker, saying that the producer has always been on her “dream board of people to work with.”

Lipa is a fan of Tame Impala’s 2015 album, Currents, and she spoke about its profound influence on her musical journey. “In terms of things that I’m obsessed with, Currents has been the soundtrack to my life,” said the British-Albanian pop singer. “It’s one of my favourite albums ever ever ever. It was kind of like the gateway drug for me into Tame Impala.”

Parker co-produced ‘Houdini’ with Danny L Harle. Lipa, Parker and Harle co-wrote the song with Caroline Ailin and Tobias Jesso Jr. “I’ve always looked up to him as someone that I’m really inspired by and he has always been on my dream board of people to work with,” Lipa said of Parker.

‘Houdini’ is Dua Lipa’s first release since her critically acclaimed album, Future Nostalgia, in 2020. She is gearing up for the release of her third studio album, which includes further collaborations with Parker. “The album is different,” Lipa said. “It’s still pop but it’s different sonically, and there’s more of a lyrical theme. If I told you the title, everything would make sense – but I think we’ll just have to wait.”

Dua Lipa hasn’t currently hasn’t made any firm announcements related to the album, but it is expected to be released in 2024.
