3% Return With New Single ‘Our Greats’ And Cathy Freeman-Starring Video

3% have shared their first new music of 2025: A stand-alone single entitled ‘Our Greats’. It marks the Indigenous hip-hop supergroup’s first single since the release of their ARIA Award-winning debut album, Kill The Dead, in August 2024. In a press statement, the group’s members explained that the new track was “a tribute to the giants who walked before us”.

“[This is for] the ones who dared to believe, who fought through adversity, and who laid the foundation so we could stand tall today,” said Dallas Woods. Their legacy is carved into our spirit, their impact is beyond measure – and they all deserve statues in bronze.” Bandmate Angus Field, for his part, added: “The legacy that they wove into our rich history creates a timely reminder of who we are and what we can achieve. For those who are still to come, they paint a picture of inspiration for them to excel and exceed from what has already been done by our people.”

Nooky, meanwhile, noted that ‘Our Greats’ was “a deeply personal song” to him – on account of it featuring both of his daughters on vocals. “My eldest daughter had been asking to do a song with us ever since hearing her sister Calula on ‘Coming Home’,” he said. “A few months later, I flew to Melbourne with Olivia and Calula to record the hook. I was blown away by how quick they picked it up. I didn’t know they could sing like that. I’m just glad they let me put a verse on their song.”

3% – ‘Our Greats’

The accompanying music video for ‘Our Greats’ was co-directed by Nooky with Gabriel Gasparinatos and Nick Rae. It was produced by Nooky’s not-for-profit social orgnanisation We Are Warriors, whose mission statement is “spotlight[ing] Indigenous role models, elevating their success stories and showing the next generation there are no limits.” In the clip, the three members perform alongside several young Indigenous kids, including Nooky’s two daughters. The kids also get to meet Olympic gold medalist Cathy Freeman, while Nooky also introduces a teenage boy to LA Clippers point guard (and Torres Strait Islander) Patty Mills in Miami. The final shot of the clip sees Nooky referencing WWE wrestler Jey Uso, getting the kids in the cast to perform his signature catchphrase “yeet”.

Most recently, 3% performed in the Utzon Room of the Sydney Opera House as part of this year’s Vivid festivities – having made their public live debut at Vivid the year before with a free show in Sydney’s Tumbalong Park. In October, the trio will return to the stage at the Dream Aloud Festival in Cairns, performing alongside the likes of Budjerah, South Summit, Kaiit and Zipporah Corser-Anu.
