Kingswood On Their Ultimate Pre-Show Warmup Tracks

Melbourne rockers Kingswood are set to perform one of their biggest shows to date, with today’s announcement of a special show at Melbourne’s iconic Palais Theatre.

Taking place on Saturday, June 5th, the concert will see the band perform the latest record Juveniles in full, in what will be their first full rock show since their album launch in March 2020, the very night Victoria entered their months-long lockdown.

“To be playing one of the biggest shows in the band’s history, at a venue that has been a bucket list headline dream, in a time where a worldly plague is causing so much chaos…feels like alchemy, feels wrong – the kind of wrong that you know is just so damned right,” Kingswood’s Alex Laska says in a statement. “Taking place in the city we love, our city, Melbourne. The city that withstood, persevered and succeeded. The best city in the world. It will be the event of the year and so say all of us!”

Kingswood will be joined by support acts Cry Club, Shannen James (Solo) and Psychobabel.

In the lead up to this special show, we asked the band to divulge their ultimate, pre-show warmup tracks.

Kingswood’s Ultimate Pre-Show Warmup Tracks

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody: This one is a no brainer. The pantomime, the bombast, how ludicrous the whole thing is – channelling that energy just prior to going on stage is how you get it done. It also doubles as an excellent six, or so, minute vocal warm-up throughout the entire range. Those who have attended a Kingswood show in the past have more than likely experienced this with us.

The Eagles – Take It Easy: A song we love so much we sometimes throw into the set. This song sets the camaraderie and youthful joy that’s so infectious. The harmonies, the intention, never ceases to put a smile on the dial.

Dolly Parton – When Someone Wants To Leave: Who wouldn’t want to listen to that voice before singing anything. Talk about inspiration.

Big Mama Thornton – Hound Dog: Get your Pulp Fiction on with this zesty little number. When we need to loosen those hips and get limber, Big Mama has us covered.

George Smith – Telephone Blues: This one doubles as a two for one. Equally as potent a post-show cool down as a pre-show warm-up. George Smith absolutely wreaks of cool. The voice. The vibe. A lesser-known name amongst blues titans, Smith is the diamond in the rough.
